(Insert sounds of hyperventilating from stress and excitement here.)
At this moment, I’m working on putting together our play list of music for during the “in-betweens” of John Francis’s amazing music. He’s going to play a set during the reception, and I’m so excited to hear it.
During the ceremony and the dancing of us in various pairs, he will also play some of our favorites by Ellis Paul, Cat Power (“Sea of Love” originally recorded by Phil Philips, if you’re curious), Ray LaMontaigne, Etta James, John Denver, and a little Jimmie Davis (“You Are My Sunshine,” which is one of the state songs of Louisiana – thank you, Wikipedia.)
I’m so excited by our music, and I’m eager to make a great playlist that reflects our taste in music but also brings in the tastes of the people we love. So please, offer your suggestions below if you would. We’d love to hear them.
Also, 11 days!!
Off the top of my head –
Hank Williams – Baby We’re Really in Love
Anything sung by Marie Digby
Patsy Cline – You Belong to Me
Ingrid Michaelson – You and I (or Giving Up – that’s a nice one)
But my favorite wedding songs are a little more old school –
The Casinos – Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye
Nat King Cole – I Love You for Sentimental Reasons
Johnny Mathis – For Your Love

Not exclusively “wedding music” but music that I would have played had it been out when I got married…
Kerosene Halo – Rice Paper Wings, Tonight I smiled at the Moon, Dimming of the Day
you can listen to the tracks here: http://kerosenehalo.net/
Over the Rhine – The King Knows How, Days Like This, All My Favorite People I’m On A Roll
These two songs were played at my reception. My wife, Linda and I danced to OtR- I Want You To Be My Love and Michael Roe – Ache Beautiful was played as the party was breaking up.
